There are plans to launch traffic via a bridge across the Tumannaya River in the Khasansky municipal district this coming June, according to the press service of the Government of the Primorye Territory.
The entire crossing will be five kilometers long, and the two-lane bridge itself will have a length of 1,000 meters.
“The launch of a new vehicle bridge will make it possible to expand mutual trade volumes, to streamline logistics, to strengthen cultural ties, and to turn border territories into rapidly developing economic hubs linked by a modern corridor,” Minister of Transport Andrei Nikitin noted via videoconference during the ceremony.
The project involves over 70 workers and over 30 pieces of equipment. The bridge features over 5,000 metric tons of metal structures and over 9,000 cubic meters of concrete; this guarantees compliance with the toughest safety standards.
“Opportunities are not opening up for the Primorye Territory alone. This is a significant event for the entire country, for the Far East, for our region because our territory is a gateway to Asia,” Deputy Prime Minister of the Regional Government Kirill Khizhinsky noted.
He added that the new bridge would increase traffic capacity and open up new opportunities for cooperation between Russia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
