The project will be based in Gusinoozyorsk to meet the demand for vegetables both in Buryatia and neighboring regions, the local Government’s Press Service reports.
The construction of greenhouses is a key project in the context of efforts to promote the region’s agro-industrial complex and food security.
This is the biggest greenhouse under glass in the whole of the Russian Far East. There is no such facility in Primorye, the Amur Region, or other regions in the Far Eastern Federal District. This is not only about the working height. This implies a higher quality of life, lower vegetable prices, lower spending and better quality of food,” Head of the Republic of Buryatia Alexei Tsydenov said.
The first output will be available in 2027. In 2028, the complex will reach its full capacity of 17,000 tons of vegetables per year.
In addition, the region has gone into wool processing and marketing, signing an agreement with the St. Petersburg Commodity Exchange.
“Today, we know that wool procurement and marketing does not pay. Our agreement with the Commodity Exchange is a solution for both wool sellers and wool buyers. The first wool sale is about new opportunities for our agricultural producers,” Mr Tsydenov said.
