Primorye Territory’s joint taskforce for protecting forests from wildfires
The taskforce includes 2,249 firefighters, 1,268 units of equipment, and over 10,000 units of forest fireproof hardware, Press Service of the Primorye Territory’s Government reports.
The contributors to the taskforce are the Primorye base for air and ground forest protection, Oboronles military forestry departments, resourceof specially protected natural areas of federal significance, lessees of forest plots, as well as firefighting units and emergency response teams of the Territory’s EMERCOM Ministry.
“We focus on monitoring and emergency response tactics, including with the use of advanced technologies and aircraft. This year, we have allocated over 1,000 flight hours for aerial work. This approach enables us to eliminate forest wildfires within the first 24 hours and prevent them from spreading to greater areas,” Deputy Minister for the Forestry, Environmental Protection, Wildlife, and Natural Resources of the Primorye Territory Maxim Taranov said.
