Sakhalin and Murmansk region ports to be upgraded to support fisheries

The Far East accounts for 75 percent of Russia’s aquatic bioresources. State support measures are being implemented to ensure that fish products are more available in other regions of the country, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev announced at the 8h Global Fishery Forum in St. Petersburg.

“Under the investment quota program, six logistics complexes and four reefer vessels will be built. In addition, port infrastructure is being upgraded and modernized, including in the Sakhalin and Murmansk regions,” said Mr. Patrushev.

He added that the government was also working to create conditions that would make pricing in the fish market more transparent, with costs to be monitored throughout the entire supply chain.
