The series of audio records for an online tundra Nenets language dictionary was made by nine native language speakers of various generations and dialect clusters, according to the Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University press service. In total they have recorded over 500 most commonly used Nenets words as well as live dialogues, colloquial speech samples, poems and songs during their field work in Naryan-Mar. The collection includes samples of the Malozemelsky, Bolshezemelsky and Kaninsky dialects.“Of special importance is that we could record the voices of native speakers of different age, including teenagers and representatives of older generations. This helps to ensure intergenerational continuity and dialectal diversity of the materials,” noted the university linguists.
