Pomorye to mark Russian North Culture Year in 2026

Arkhangelsk Region Governor Alexander Tsibulsky supported the initiative of public activists, as per the press service of the regional government.

Next year, the Arkhangelsk Region, also known as Pomorye, will celebrate the 800th anniversary of Kargopol, one of the oldest cities in the Russian North, as well as the 90th birthday anniversary of poet Nikolai Rubtsov and the centennial of the State Academic North Russian Folk Choir.

“The Russian North Culture Year is a fundamental part of spiritual and moral values that must be preserved, and is also part of our state identity. This is why I completely support the proposal, and I suggest working together on the content of the Russian North Culture Year,” Tsibulsky noted.

The governor added that the initiative blended with the Year of Unity for Russia’s Peoples, designated by the President of Russia, and made it possible to support craftsmen, artists and researchers, to expand cultural programs, to strengthen ties between generations and to help young people reassess their heritage.
