A new profession, chum worker, to be officially introduced in 2026

In 2026, the Labor and Employment Agency in the Krasnoyarsk Territory is launching a Nomadic Dwelling Worker course of training for representatives of  indigenous small -numbered  peoples of the North.

This profession is in high demand on the local labor market and the relevant skills category has been included in the region’s Dictionary of Occupational Titles. The measure is expected to create additional conditions for the preservation and development of culture, lifestyles, and traditions of indigenous small -numbered  peoples of the North.  Students will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for performing important household functions at a nomadic camp.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation included the new job description – Nomadic Dwelling Worker – in the Stockbreeder Occupational Standard back in early September 2025.
