Yamal reindeer breeders to get updated veterinary kits in 2026

Next year, broad-spectrum antiseptics and Vishnevsky ointment will be added to the veterinary kits, with their plastic containers to be replaced with 60-litre waterproof bags, Press Service of the YNAA Government reports.

This year, the range of medicines in the kit has also been extended through the inclusion of antimicrobial and antiparasitic drugs.

“Supplements to the kits were issued not only to the reindeer breeders who applied for kits in 2025 but also to those who obtained them last year. With account taken of the pilot project’s results, the Governor has decided to go on issuing the kits,” a Press Service spokesperson said.

As of today, 1,452 kits have been issued, with another 500 to be handed out in 2026. The issue terms remain the same as before: leading a traditional way of life, participating in veterinary events, and carrying out reindeer counts. The veterinary kits are issued for two years.
