In Yamal, parents belonging to indigenous minorities now receive childcare benefits in their native languages
The Child from Zero to Three benefit is now available in four languages: Russian, Khanty, Selkup, and Nenets. The material provides answers to frequently asked questions about childcare, according to the regional government’s press service.
A regional working group, comprised of experts in education and healthcare, as well as representatives of indigenous small-numbered peoples, developed the project over the course of a year.
A distinctive feature of the benefit is that it takes into account the traditional lifestyle, culture, and customs of the indigenous peoples of the North.
The publication offers advice on developing a child’s auditory, visual, and motor skills, with particular attention to emotional and social development. It also includes recommendations on establishing a daily routine, creating a safe play environment, and performing physical exercises.
