Yugra adopts new support measures for indigenous minority peoples of the North
Representatives of the indigenous minority peoples of the North in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area are eligible to receive 20,000 rubles for each newly born child and free legal assistance, according to the regional parliament press service.
“We have entitled members of the indigenous minority peoples of the North living in the places of their traditional residence and traditional economic activity to get a one-time benefit after a child birth,” said Speaker of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area Duma Boris Khokhryakov.
The decision is reported to render additional support to about 200 people. Earlier, the benefit was only granted to those indigenous residents, who had the right to traditional environmental management.
In addition, members of the indigenous minority peoples of the North living in the region will be able to receive legal assistance related to traditional economic activities free of charge, the press service added.
