There are plans to test Arctic Medicine, a new healthcare management model, at clinics in the Murmansk Region, according to regional Minister of Health Dmitry Panychev.“Work is still underway to finalize the Arctic Medicine standard. Its methodological recommendations list organizational and managerial decisions regarding equipment, digital solutions and competences; they also describe various methods for introducing these recommendations. The model has already been coordinated with the Russian Ministry of Health, and proposals for modifying the document have been submitted. Following the document’s approval, we will test some of its provisions and approaches regarding the organization and management of medical treatment in the Murmansk Region,” Panychev noted.The draft document will be modified and submitted to the national Ministry of Health for subsequent adjustment and coordination by October 1, 2025. The Arctic Medicine healthcare management model aims to improve the quality and affordability of medical treatment in Russia’s Arctic territories, to increase the average life expectancy and to promote active longevity. The new standard envisages an individual approach toward patients from Arctic regions, with due consideration for climatic specifics.
