Yakutia is one of three leaders under the Far Eastern Hectare and Arctic Hectare programs

The Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEADC) has provided statistics showing that the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is one of the three regions leading in the number of plots of land allocated under the Far Eastern Hectare and Arctic Hectare programs.

The Primorye Territory, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and the Sakhalin Region account for 40,000, 28,400, and 20,800 applications for plots of land, respectively.  Most often, the land is used for housing construction (53%), farming (28%), as well as business (12%), and organization of rest and recreation facilities (7%).

“The Hectare program is not only about getting land but also about adapting it to specific goals, be it farming, production, or agricultural tourism. We see that often people lacking even the basic agricultural skills turn out successful in business,” FEADC Hectare program head Yulia Tishchenko said.

Arctic Hectare is also in stable demand in Chukotka, with over 1,500 applications tendered since the program’s launch. As many as 1,313 people have been granted the right to use their land free of charge, a spokesperson for the regional Government said.
