More Karelian land added to the Arctic Hectare program

An additional 667.5 hectares of unused land in the Arctic zone of the Republic of Karelia have been included in the Arctic Hectare program. The newly added plots, which are part of the state forest fund and free from third-party claims, expand the program’s available land bank.

The new plots are located near several Karelian villages:  Vorenzha, Belomorsky Municipal District, Luusalmi, Kalevalsky District, Panozero, Kemsky Municipal District, Sofporog, Loukhsky District, and Voldozero, Segezhsky Municipal District.

Leonid Liminchuk, Chair of the Karelian Legislative Assembly’s Committee on Economic and Industrial Policy, Energy, Housing, and Utilities, noted: “We have seen growing interest in land plots available through this program in Karelia’s Arctic regions. In fact, the republic has the capacity to allocate even more land to residents of the Russian Federation.  I would especially encourage Karelian residents to take advantage of this opportunity to obtain land for building homes or developing tourism facilities.”

About the Hectare Program: Launched in August 2021, the program grants land plots free of charge for single-family home construction, private subsistence farming, or business initiatives. To date, over 8,000 plots in Karelia’s Arctic zone have been allocated.
