Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic proposes designating 2027 as the Year of the Arctic
A draft presidential executive order to that effect, prepared by the ministry, has been published on the Federal Portal of Draft Regulatory Legal Acts.
The government will establish an organizing committee and a directorate for the Year of the Arctic, as well as oversee the development and approval of a plan outlining the key events. Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev has been proposed to chair the organizing committee.
In addition, regional authorities are encouraged to organize relevant events as part of the Year of the Arctic.
