The Arkhangelsk Region has become a member of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR). The decision was confirmed during a meeting of the association’s members, as announced by the regional government’s press service.Alexander Smekalin, Director of AIRR, stated that the agreement will bolster the White Sea area’s economic potential. In return, other AIRR members will gain access to the region’s best practices, expanding their own expertise.“The harsh climate makes this region an ideal testing ground for modern digital and unmanned technologies under extreme conditions, as well as for innovative solutions in energy efficiency and environmental monitoring,” Smekalin emphasized. “The Arkhangelsk Region is emerging as a key driver of Russia’s technological sovereignty. Through the Association, it will now have access to unique tools and proven practices for system-wide innovative development.”The press release noted that the Arkhangelsk Region has become the first Arctic member of AIRR.
