Russian scientists develop equipment for transporting construction materials in the Extreme North
Scientists in Omsk have patented a prototype generator for fast and safe cleaning of tanks from oil production waste. This equipment will help expedite construction materials’ deliveries in the Extreme North.
According to sources at Omsk State Technical University, viscous and solidified oil production waste (oil sludge) is usually heated with steam or water; one cubic meter of sedimentation thus generates dozens of cubic meters of hazardous waste.
The new unique method heats up oil sludge with pinpoint precision using a device placed inside the reservoir. This process is much more environmentally friendly, reducing energy consumption due to lower heat losses.
The new equipment can be used to liquefy construction-grade bitumen and other highly viscous hydrocarbons; this is especially important for transporting construction materials in the Extreme North.
