Naval exercise underway in Pacific and Arctic oceans
The Russian Navy is conducting the large-scale July Storm exercise in the Pacific and Arctic oceans, as well as in the Baltic and Caspian seas, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
The exercise is held from July 23 through July 27 and involves over 150 warships, 120 airplanes, ten coastal missile systems, 950 pieces of special-purpose equipment and over 15,000 service personnel.
Several submarines of various classes are deployed in the Barents Sea, practicing simulated combat alignment with surface warships in order to ensure Russia’s security in the Arctic region.
During the exercise, there are plans to check the readiness of troop formations to accomplish unconventional objectives and to use long-range high-precisions weaponry, drones and other modern ordnance.
