New ship-loading conveyor tested at Murmansk seaport
A new telescopic ship-loading belt conveyor was tested at Murmansk merchant seaport, thus becoming an important phase of implementing a program of additional environmental protection measures, according to the port’s press service.
Before launching the conveyor, specialists adjusted its components and tested them in action; the tele-stacker operated a maximum capacity, 1,200 metric tons per hour.
“This phase is an important contribution to the port’s environmental safety because the new equipment will considerably reduce dusting during the transshipment of bulk free-flowing cargo and make the entire logistics chain more effective,” the port’s Technical Director Yevgeny Krasnov said.
The radial telescopic belt conveyor ensures the smooth and even transportation of bulk free-flowing freight and piece goods. Its sturdy design can withstand the severe Arctic climate of the Kola Peninsula. The 58.3 meter long conveyor has a boom overhang of 21 meters. Its equipment features automatic control and weight-registration systems, signal lamps, floodlights and remote sensor readouts. Two tele-stackers will be installed at the port, the press service added.
