Development of a new building stone deposit in Karelia to begin in 2026
According to the press service of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, development of a dimensional stone quarry at the Keleynoe deposit in the Republic of Karelia will begin in 2026. The enterprise is to produce up to 874.3 cu m of the material per year for the region’s construction industry.
The enterprise established on the basis of the country’s only deposit of olivine websterite will produce building stone blocks and send them for processing. The project implementation includes equipment purchase and building of a rotational camp. The investments will total 18 million rubles.
“Construction raw materials production reduces the need for exported materials, which, given the Northern logistics conditions, substantially optimizes their cost. The residents eligible to the Arctic Zone preferential treatment regime apply beneficial tax rates and enjoy administrative benefits. The Corporation supports investment projects at all stages of their implementation helping the business people to solve all accompanying issues,” said Anastasia Zhuk, Director of the Corporation’s Investment Project Implementation Support Department.
