The volume of cargo transported along the Northern Sea Route last year exceeded the planned target by 5.5 percent. This was announced by Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin during a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Transport, held in advance of the government’s official report.“Key indicators show that 37.02 million tons of cargo were shipped along the Northern Sea Route, surpassing the target. Capacity increased by 25 million tons, compared to the planned 17 million tons,” the minister emphasized.According to a presentation by Andrey Nikitin, the planned volume of cargo for the route had been set at 35.1 million tons.
