Government expands territories of advanced development in Chukotka

Their revised borders will include land plots more than 20,000 hectares in total area in Pevek municipality and Bilibino municipal district of the Chukotka Autonomous Area, as the Government press service reports.

The design and construction of the Baimsky mining and processing plant will continue on this territory. The works will include construction of power supply, logistics and transport support facilities, building of a sea and a freight terminal, motor roads, warming stations along winter roads, hardware repair and servicing facilities, sites for cargo storage and reloading, and other infrastructure.

“We expect this project to facilitate developing this area and raising the level of people’s life, especially in such harsh climatic conditions,” emphasized Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The total amount of investments in this project is to exceed one trillion rubles, which is supposed to create over 2,000 jobs.
