Government updates renovation program for Far Eastern cities

The new directive extends the implementation period for all projects through 2030 and specifies funding parameters and project composition, taking into account the work already completed, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic reported.

The total value of the program for renovating Far Eastern cities, including previously completed projects, now stands at 3.6 trillion rubles, down from 4.4 trillion rubles, with federal funding amounting to 1.3 trillion rubles (previously 1.8 trillion). The total number of projects has been adjusted from 1,311 to 1,057. The Ministry and the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic will oversee the comprehensive renovation of 25 cities across the macroregion.

“Updating the master plans has made it possible to consolidate and structure detailed data for each Far Eastern region, from the number of projects to funding sources and amounts. This approach ensures transparency and improves the management of the program for renovating Far Eastern cities,” Deputy Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic Elvira Nurgaliyeva said.

She added that the list now also includes the city of Tsiolkovsky in the Amur Region, which will be developed together with Svobodny as part of a single urban agglomeration.

By 2030, the implementation of the master plans is expected to increase the population by 7 percent, raise the gross urban product by 45 percent, to 4.9 trillion rubles, expand employment by 23 percent, and boost average wages by 42 percent, reaching to 152,000 rubles.
