Kamchatka’s ship-repair and fisheries sectors to get financial support

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has launched a program for expanding ship-repair facilities in the Arctic region; under this program, the Kamchatka Territory will obtain funding for building ship-repair docks. The program also aims to expand the fisheries sector’s produce shipment logistics.

“We can see greater demand for ship-repair services in connection with import substation projects, expanded Arctic navigation and logistic advantages of the Kamchatka Territory. Local ship-repair volumes have skyrocketed four-fold since 2020,” the territory’s Governor Vladimir Solodov noted.

The head of the region added that Kamchatka continued to lead the way in seafood catches. In the past 12 to 15 years, their volumes have soared by 100 percent. By late 2025, Kamchatka’s fishermen will have hauled about 1.5 million tons of seafood, accounting for over 30 percent of nationwide catches.
