First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Murmansk Region Governor Andrei Chibis discuss Arctic development project

In Moscow, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Murmansk Region Governor Andrei Chibis held a meeting to discuss the drafting of a comprehensive Arctic development project and the implementation of the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor, the Murmansk Region government press service reported.

“Work is underway on a comprehensive project aimed at meeting the growing demand for shipbuilding and icebreaker construction, as well as expanding mineral extraction and processing in the Russian Arctic,” the governor said.

During the meeting, Denis Manturov and Andrei Chibis also discussed the modernization of the region’s educational infrastructure to train highly qualified specialists for Arctic industries. The governor noted that 30 social and educational facilities have already been commissioned in the Murmansk Region, with work in progress on ten more.

The first deputy prime minister highlighted another strategic goal –  the construction of a world-class campus in Murmansk by 2030, to be established on the basis of Murmansk Arctic University.
