Establishment of a unified maritime operator for Northern Delivery discussed in Yakutia
A new cargo delivery system serving Arctic settlements is set to launch in 2026, according to the regional Ministry of Civil Defense and Life Safety of the Republic, following a recent meeting.
The creation of a new operator is expected to enhance the reliability of cargo deliveries to Arctic communities and streamline the cost of maritime transport along the Northern Sea Route. The meeting concluded with the signing of an agreement between the republic and Rosatom Arctic.
Meeting participants noted that the single maritime operator will play a pivotal role in maintaining essential infrastructure, supporting remote northern communities, and ensuring the stability of the region’s economy.
