The amendments to the strategy are to extend the planning horizon until 2050. The relevant draft executive order to be issued by the President has been completed, said Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic Alexei Chekunkov on the eve of the Eastern Economic Forum.

“We have drafted the presidential executive order on amendments to the Strategy for Developing the Arctic Zone. Further, we will develop a comprehensive plan of implementing projects and measures to be included in state programs and for receiving funds,” he said.

According to the minister, the current version of the Strategy for Developing the Arctic Zone and providing for the national security was adopted way back in 2020, with the planning horizon until 2035. The new draft takes into account the development of the resource base with an emphasis on developing the Northern Sea Route and Transarctic Transport Corridor.
