Ministry of Labor proposes increased employer subsidies in the Arctic Zone

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has proposed augmenting financial support for employers inviting personnel for working in the Arctic Zone – from 225,000 to 1 million rubles per employee.

“The Arctic is a region with challenging conditions and a heightened demand for skilled labor. We propose raising employer subsidies for hiring specialists to work in these areas from 225,000 to 1 million rubles. This will help address staffing challenges in the implementation of specific regional projects,” stated Minister of Labor Anton Kotyakov.

Currently, such measures are already in place for Arctic regions within the Far Eastern Federal District. If approved, the Republic of Karelia, the Republic of Komi, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, and the Arkhangelsk Region will also qualify for these subsidies.

Depending on the region, funds may be directed toward relocating prospective employees and their families, purchasing or renting housing, as well as  providing training.
