Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, Chukotka and Nenets Autonomous Area post highest socio-economic resilience levels
The Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area placed first in a rating survey of Russian regions’ socio-economic resilience levels, compiled by the Civil Society Development Foundation using Rosstat data, in the first six months of 2025.
The survey listed 35 best-performing territories. The top ten Russian regions also include Chukotka, the Nenets Autonomous Area, Yugra, Yakutia, the Magadan and Murmansk regions. The Krasnoyarsk and Kamchatka territories, the Komi Republic and the Amur Region lead the way among the second ten regions. The Trans-Baikal, Khabarovsk, Primorye and Perm territories top the last ten.
The rating survey takes into consideration subsistence medium levels, median wages and the correlation between gross regional products (the sum total of shipped goods, the volume of works performed and services rendered per region) and the economically active population.
