Government to provide about 2 billion rubles to develop the Far East and the Arctic

The Government will allocate over 1,8 billion rubles for social development of the economic growth centers in the Far East and the Arctic according to the directive signed by Mikhail Mishustin.

As per the document, the Komi Republic will receive 292.8 million rubles to repair the ring road in Vorkuta and purchase more than 40 ambulances for the emergency medical service as well as for a home for elderly people. In addition, the federal funding is supposed to be applied for establishing Quantorium,  a children's technopark in Usinsk.

The earmarked funds will also be used for implementing the master plan of the Ulan-Ude city in Buryatia, repairing the Rossia National Center branch in Vladivostok, and for renovating the Tolstoy Street in Korsakov, Sakhalin, which runs to the new residential complex constructed under the Far Eastern Quarter program.

“We expect that such measures will help tap the regions’ potential, improve the living conditions there and raise their attraction for tourism,” stressed Mikhail Mishustin.
