Almost 20,000 children in the Murmansk Region to begin school year in upgraded classrooms
The Government of the Murmansk Region has allocated 200 mln rubles from the regional budget for the modernization of schools, kindergartens and extracurricular education facilities this year. The upgrade projects are in their final stage, including furniture and equipment installation, and post-renovation cleaning. Students, parents and teachers will be able to enjoy the new facilities as soon as the first day of school, the Regional Government Press Service reports.
Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region Anna Golovina commented that, thanks to the Arctic School project, almost 20,000 kids in this northern region will study and learn in renovated facilities.
In particular, specialized engineering classrooms have been upgraded in 14 schools. Students will study engineering and conduct their own research projects under the guidance of mentors from the region’s major corporations.
Student competition training and research skills centers will open at schools across Murmansk, Monchegorsk, Severomorsk and the Lovozersky District.
The regional government has allocated 40 million rubles for developing ten study spaces for specialized shipbuilding, unmanned aircraft and robotics classes. An additional 25 mln rubles has been spent on the renovation and equipment of school cafeterias, gyms and concert halls in Murmansk, Vidyayevo, as well as the Kandalakshsky, Lovozersky and Tersky districts.
Furthermore, 15 mln rubles has been allocated for robotics, programming and other technical labs in Kandalaksha, Murmansk and Polyarnye Zori. Thanks to the involvement of extracurricular education organizations in the Arctic School project, almost 2,000 kids will be learning in modern labs.
Sport facilities, concert halls, playrooms and early development spaces have been renovated in kindergartens across the region.
As part of the modernization project, 60 initiatives across nine specializations have been successfully implemented.
