Over 20,000 families take out Far Eastern and Arctic mortgages for building private homes
In all, 20,200 families have taken out private housing construction loans worth 115 billion rubles, according to the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.
The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) accounted for the bulk of private housing construction loans (8,300, all told), and the breakdown for the Primorye Territory and the Trans-Baikal Territory was 3,400 and 2,000. Residents of the Arkhangelsk Region, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area and the Murmansk Region obtained most 2-percent Arctic mortgages for building private homes.
“With the onset of the housing construction season, Far Eastern and Arctic mortgages highlight strong demand for ready-made housing and unfinished private homes. In May-June 2025, the number of 2-percent private housing construction mortgages soared by 100 percent and totals an average of 120-140 loans weekly. The majority of people build their houses hiring accredited contractors and using escrow accounts,” said Sergei Potanin, Director of the Social Projects Department at the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.
According to Potanin, this option is making private housing construction easier and more understandable and affordable for people, developers, contractors and banks. “A private home with a land plot is not just some pre-set area. This amounts to an entirely different quality of life, offering large spaces for the family, lots of fresh air and an opportunity to create a unique environment for children and parents alike.”
