The Government of the Murmansk Region has discussed projects to develop two major lithium deposits at a meeting convened to summarize interim results of the effort to implement the Living in the North Strategic Plan.
According to Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region, Minister in charge of the Development of the Arctic and the Economy of the Murmansk Region Svetlana Panfilova, the discussion focused on prospects for the Polar Lithium Company to develop the Kolmozero deposit and the Arctic Lithium Company – the Polmostundra deposit.
“Arctic Lithium is planning to produce its first test ore in 2026,” she said, adding that the company was due to reach the production level of 1 million tons of ore per year, while Polar Lithium – up to 2 million tons per year.
Apart from that, the Government is studying the possibility of building motor roads to ensure transport accessibility of the industrial sites.
