Over 300 young tundra inhabitants received preschool training
Seasonal preschool training during three summer months has been provided to children up to eight years of age conducting the traditional way of life together with their parents. The classes were held in camping grounds, trading stations and fishing camps, the region’s press service reports.
The children had lessons to develop their speech, prepare their hands for writing, and adapt to learning at a boarding school. Under the guidance of teachers and volunteers children performed creative tasks: they drew pictures, made appliqués, and sculpted. Much attention was given to physical development with a view to strengthen their health. At the lessons children also learnt to analyze weather changes, monitored the plants’ growth and animals’ behavior, making their first conclusions based on observations.
The lessons were conducted in 68 groups, supervised by teachers and school student volunteers, including those from psychology and education classes.
Twenty more preschool groups for little nomads were formed at boarding schools, where children live all schoolyear round, in the city of Muravlenko, Krasnoselkupsky, Purovsky, Yamalsky, Shuryshkarsky and Priuralsky districts.
