Airfield infrastructure overhauled at Magadan’s Sokol International Airport
A taxiway and a platform for aircraft were reconstructed at Vysotsky (Sokol) International Airport in Magadan. A water drainage system, a fence with security systems and a patrol road were also built, and blinker lights, floodlights and signal equipment installed.
The upgraded platform will accommodate Antonov An-124 strategic airlifters, Boeing 777-3000ER and SSJ-100 passenger airliners. This and other infrastructure components will make it possible to increase the airport’s capacity, to improve passenger service quality and to enhance transport security.
The upgraded infrastructure and a new terminal that opened last year will allow the airport to handle up to 1.5 million passengers annually.
