Blagoveshchensk, the capital of the Amur Region, is one of 17 Russian cities selected to host new, state-of-the-art university campuses. The Amur campus will feature academic and administrative buildings, laboratories, dormitories and sports facilities, according to the Russian Government’s press service.
The project will receive more than 16 billion rubles in federal funding. The Amur International University campus will be incorporated into Blagoveshchensk’s municipal master plan and will be built on the grounds of Amur State University.
According to the press service of the Amur Regional Government, the academic and laboratory building will house a design bureau, an exhibition area, and centers for the gas and chemical industry and information technology, including AI. These will be established in partnership with leading Russian companies.
The planned campus will also include engineering and laboratory facilities, a paleontology building, and facilities for the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The campus will have two types of dormitories for Russian and international students: apartment-style accommodation for 700 students and corridor-style accommodation for another 820. A stadium and outdoor sports facilities will also be built.
