Earlier this year, the Konstantin Posyet, the second vessel in a series of Arctic LNG carriers built in the Primorye Territory, began operating on the Northern Sea Route. Previously, such vessels were built only abroad, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin told participants in a strategic session on the implementation of national technological leadership projects.
Mishustin noted that supporting domestic industry in developing transport technology was a government priority. The government supports enterprises and industries involved in producing much-needed equipment for passenger andfreight transport.
The Konstantin Posyet is designed to transportliquefied natural gas year-round in Arctic waters, including the challenging eastern sector of the Northern Sea Route. The Arc7 ice-class vessel can independently navigate through ice fields up to 2.1 meters thick and has a cargo capacity of 172,600 cubic meters of LNG.
Construction of the Konstantin Posyet, the second vessel in a series of Arctic LNG carriers, was completed in July 2026.
