The Kamchatka Territory has resumed regular international air service with the launch of a new direct flight from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Harbin, the regional government’s press service reports.
The inaugural flight was fully booked, with 100 passengers on board.
Previously, the region’s residents traveling to China had to make connectionsin other Far Eastern cities, such as Vladivostok and Khabarovsk. The new direct service will reduce travel time, eliminate the need for connecting flights, and help passengers avoid additional expenses.
“Demand for a direct flight to China has been building for a long time. This opens up new opportunities for travelers, Kamchatkabusinesses, and, of course, our talented students,” Kamchatka Territory Governor Vladimir Solodov said.
According to the region’s Prime Minister Yulia Morozova, the new route is the result of extensive joint efforts by the governor and the Kamchatka regional government, working together with their Chinese counterparts. The route has already proved popular. “Tickets for the fall school holidays sold quickly, and there is now strong interest in trips for the New Year holiday season,” she said.
