Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Dmitry Demeshin discussed the construction of an advanced school in Khabarovsk for gifted children from the Russian Far East.
The Government Press Service reports that the new education institution will teach potential workers for science- and technology-intensive economic sectors. The school is designed to enroll 600 students, grades seven to 11. A campus will be built for children from other cities, along with faculty housing.
“This is a unique opportunity for the Khabarovsk Territory to become a center of education for the entire Far East. I am certain that the new school will help gifted children from all regions to unlock their potential,” Governor Demeshin said.
Sixteen education institutions in the region are currently under construction or in the process of renovation: five schools and 11 kindergartens. The region plans to build a total of nine schools for 9,000 students and 17 kindergartens before 2030.
The governor also stressed that the Khabarovsk Territory annually hosts regional, national and international youth events. Last June, Khabarovsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur hosted the Russian Student Spring Festival for vocational schools students. Special focus is given to patriotic education.
