The upgraded Kraskino automobile checkpoint – a key link in the Primorye-2 international transport corridor – has begun operations in the Khasansky District of the Primorye Territory. Authorization to open the checkpoint to traffic was granted by Minister of Transport Andrei Nikitin via videoconference, according to the Russian Government’s official Telegram channel.
Over a period of 2.5 years, approximately 60 buildings and structures were erected at the facility, 16 traffic lanes were outfitted, and more than 100 units of high-tech equipment were installed. Throughput capacity has increased fourfold – to 750 vehicles per day. Truck inspection times are expected to be reduced to 10 minutes.
For the first time in Russia, a portal inspection and screening complex combined with a weight-and-dimension system has been deployed on the freight route. This enables simultaneous weight monitoring and vehicle scanning. On the passenger route, a modern building with comfortable inspection halls has been constructed.
Andrei Nikitin emphasized that the launch of the facility is an important part of efforts to expand Russia’s transport corridors in the East and to strengthen trade partnerships with the PRC.

“The dynamics speak for themselves: in the first five months of this year alone, trade turnover with China grew by 25 percent. Our task is to create reliable infrastructure at an accelerated pace,” noted the Minister of Transport.

Andrei Nikitin also noted that Zabaikalsk – the largest automobile checkpoint on the border with China – is being constructed at a rapid pace.
Governor of the Primorye Territory Oleg Kozhemyako pointed out that the upgraded checkpoint will give a strong boost to tourism flows between Russia and China.
“We expect an increase to 90,000 vehicles and up to 1 million passengers this year. Jilin Province has been our good neighbor for many years, and the opening of Krasnino will only improve the situation regarding opportunities for tourists to travel through the Chinese province and for Chinese tourists to visit the Primorye Territory,” he said.
There are seven checkpoints on the Russian-Chinese border in Primorye – five road and two rail. Two-thirds of the region’s foreign trade turnover with the PRC passes through them. Two have already opened in 2026: Pogranichny in June and Kraskino in October. In 2027, the opening of the Markovo checkpoint and the completion of the reconstruction of Poltavka, which will then be able to handle up to 980 trucks per day, are expected.
