During his working visit to the Amur Region, Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev said that Government-supported investment projects in the Amur Region have brought in over 2.2 trillion roubles in investment over the past 10 years, and 57 projects with total investment of over 3.3 trillion roubles are being implemented in that region today.“Power generation facilities were discussed at the meeting among other projects,” Yury Trutnev said. “Two projects involve the construction of wind farms, two others the construction of solar power plants, and another one involves expanding the Svobodnensky Thermal Power Plant. Taken together, they will provide the region with an additional 1.6 GW of generating capacity, which is roughly equivalent to the power supply of a major metropolitan area, and create nearly 1,200 new jobs.”In addition, documentation for the construction of a metallurgical plant at the Bamsky gold deposit is being drafted..Commissioning work has begun at an oilseed processing plant in Belogorsk. The project is part of the municipal master plan and includes the construction of the plant, a bulk cargo terminal, and railway and road infrastructure. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2027.According to Amur Region Governor Vasily Orlov, launching a new investment cycle is the region’s top priority. A list of 95 promising projects across six economic sectors with a total value of 480 billion roubles has been drawn up, with agricultural produce processing remaining the top priority.“Over the past five years, the region has increased its soybean processing capacity by 28 percent to 580 tonnes per year,” Vasily Orlov said. “Once the oilseed processing plant reaches its design capacity, it will be able to process an additional 1 million tonnes of oilseed crops annually.”He added that investment in mineral extraction is estimated at 300 billion roubles. In particular, projects are under way to develop refractory gold, copper, and nickel ores.“Documentation is being drafted for the construction of a mining and metallurgical plant in the Tynda District,” the head of the region said. “With the construction of the Nizhne-Zeyskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant and alternative energy facilities, power generation in the Amur Region is expected to increase to 7 GW by 2032. The new generating capacity will make the development of energy-intensive projects, such as data centers, possible.”The region is witnessing an increase in tourist arrivals as well. In 2025, the number of arrivals increased by 13 percent compared with 2024 to a total of 825,300. In the first eight months of 2026, the number of tourist arrivals in the Amur Region doubled, making it one of the leading Russian regions by this measure.
