The State Academic Bolshoi Theatre hosted the awards ceremony for the finalists of the 7th ArtMasters National Open Championship of Creative Skills. Nadezhda Ayusheyeva, a light designer from Ulan-Ude, was among the winners.“After graduating from the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts in St. Petersburg, I returned to Buryatia to work at the Ulger Puppet Theatre. In addition to creating puppets, my responsibilities include designing lighting for the shows,” Nadezhda Ayusheyeva told Arctic.ru.She first became interested in lighting while preparing her graduation production about the Luoravetlans, the indigenous people of Chukotka whose self-name translates as “real people.”The production required good lighting, and Nadezhda began studying the art of stage lighting and learning how to operate spotlights. She later put these skills to use at the Buryat theatre in her home region. According to Nadezhda Ayusheyeva, she will use the prize money she won in the “Light Designer” category to improve her professional skills. Her goal is to delight audiences at the Ulger Puppet Theatre with magical lighting.According to Alexei Naumov, an expert and curator of the stage lighting design category, Ayusheyeva’s style is marked by lightness and vibrancy. Her work stands out for its distinctive artistic signature and lack of formulaic approaches.“The Power of Unity: Art That Unites Us” was the main theme of the 7th ArtMasters season. This year saw over 30,000 applications filed, with 200 participants from 43 Russian regions making it to the finals.
