From January 1, 2027, the Nenets Autonomous Area will start paying a higher amount of maternity capital. This initiative is aimed at supporting large families and strengthening the region’s demographic potential, the press service of the Nenets Autonomous Area government reports.According to the Nenets Autonomous Area’s Governor Irina Gekht, the current amount of maternity capital in the region is 398,527 rubles, including indexation.“We are increasing the regional maternity capital to 500,000 rubles. This is more than 100,000 rubles in additional support for families in which a third or subsequent child is born or adopted,” she said, emphasizing that annual indexation of the regional maternity capital will continue.According to Irina Butorina, Deputy Governor and Head of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Nenets Autonomous Area, families will be eligible for the increased maternity capital if their child is born on or after January 1, 2027.The funds can be used for several purposes, including paying for a child’s education or rehabilitation, repaying the principal and interest on a mortgage, reimbursing the cost of durable goods, and purchasing a garage or sauna.
