Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev chaired a meeting of the Far Eastern Federal District Council in the town of Talaya, Magadan Region, the official Russian Government website reported.A key item on the agenda was preparation for implementing the Strategy for the Development of the Far East through 2030, with an outlook extending to 2036; the strategy was approved by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in September. The document was drafted in response to a presidential directive.“The Strategy for the Development of the Far East through 2030, with an outlook extending to 2036, has been adopted. It covers infrastructure, energy and technology development, as well as expanded mineral processing and social development projects. We must now begin preparing the strategy’s implementation plan,” Yury Trutnev said, opening the discussion.A draft action plan must be submitted to the Government by March 1, 2027. Alexei Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, said the plan would focus on specific target indicators.“The plan will be coordinated with all regions, sectoral ministries, the business community and development institutions. It will be finalized before the New Year. Our goal is to make the strategy’s implementation a practical, results-oriented process, so that people can see year by year exactly what has been delivered,” Alexei Chekunkov noted.The meeting also addressed the construction of facilities under national projects. Since 2020, 875 social infrastructure facilities have been commissioned in the Far Eastern Federal District: more than 300 healthcare centers, over 270 educational institutions, 80 cultural venues and 202 sports complexes.The discussion also focused on the Far East Trails project, which is being implemented under Yury Trutnev’s direction. The initiative comprises 18 projects to develop tourism infrastructure across nine regions of the Far Eastern Federal District. Routes are already open to visitors in Buryatia, the Trans-Baikal and Primorye territories, and have attracted 185,342 visitors so far.Special attention was also given to the nationwide competition for the best travel experience in the Far East and the Arctic, Far East − Land of Adventure. The jury received 342 films for evaluation – a 12 percent increase on the previous year.“I really like these projects. It’s wonderful to see people exploring their own country. I want people to be able to travel extensively across the Far East and the Arctic, fall in love with its beauty and experience adventures. I am grateful to President Vladimir Putin. He directed that films showcasing the results of these expeditions be shown on big screens. This helps attract people to the Far East and the Arctic – to stir their interest and show them they could be spending their vacation in the Far East and the Arctic instead of Türkiye,” Yury Trutnev concluded.
