The economy of the Khabarovsk Territory shows steady growth while the region’s GDP has already exceeded the threshold of 1.7 trillion rubles, Governor Dmitry Demeshin reported during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.The governor added that the GDP of the Khabarovsk Territory is expected to reach 1.9 trillion rubles by the end of the year, as quoted on Kremlin’s official website.The governor further noted growing mineral production: “Mineral production is on the rise. For copper concentrate, the increase is 330 percent, for tin 40 percent and for gold 20 percent.”Speaking about other achievements, Dmitry Demeshin reported on growing budget revenues.Dmitry Demeshin also voiced a request to expedite the approval of the Amur River navigation programme. According to the governor, the Amur waterways stretch for around 7,000 km, including 3,500 km of navigable waterways.“Mr President, I would like to ask for expediting the approval of the navigation programme and fleet upgrades. We need to develop the Amur. This is a river that spans several regions and even goes beyond Russia,” the governor said.On his part, the President instructed the governor to continue the work on improving public spaces in the Khabarovsk Territory.Dmitry Demeshin reported that the region has a programme called A Thousand Courtyards with local participants engaged.“It is very important that people are involved in this programme. We fix up public spaces, including those identified by our most active residents. We are helping and contributing,” Dmitry Demeshin noted, adding that the regional officials will continue this work.

“We are the eighth region in terms of tax and non-tax budget revenue growth. The revenue has increased by 20 percent in absolute figures, and we expect it to reach 233 billion rubles this year,” the governor reported.
