An experimental project to deliver cargo by drone will launch in the Khabarovsk Territory in October. The new transportation route will connect remote areas of the region with major cities, reducing their logistical isolation, the regional government’s press service reported.Specialists have developed prototypes of the quadcopter, drone box and droneport that will be used for cargo deliveries. A prototype of an autonomous flight control center is also ready.“For the Khabarovsk Territory, with its vast distances and challenging terrain, creating a reliable drone delivery network is an opportunity to overcome logistical barriers, ensure access to essential goods in the most remote communities and create high-tech jobs,” Khabarovsk Territory Governor Dmitry Demeshin said.The first equipment tests are scheduled for October, with the test flight range set at 3 km. In addition to the testing stage, a pilot drone cargo delivery project is being prepared for the route from Komsomolsk-on-Amur to Nikolayevsk-on-Amur. Ten drones, each capable of carrying up to 30 kg, will be used on the route.
