The seventh joint meeting of the Working Group on Cooperation between the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Republic of Belarus was held in Yakutsk during a visit by a Belarusian delegation, led by Belarusian Minister of Economy Yury Chebotar.During the visit, Yury Chebotar also held a separate meeting with Head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolayev and First Deputy Chairman of the regional government Dzhulustan Borisov. According to the regional government’s press service, the discussions resulted in concrete plans for cooperation for 2026–2027.The parties noted that trade turnover between Yakutia and Belarus increased nearly fourfold from January to July 2026 compared with the same period in 2025.The meeting participants also discussed expanding supplies of Belarusian machinery to Yakutia, including BelAZ and MTZ mining equipment for Yakutia’s mining enterprises; MAZ passenger buses and municipal vehicles adapted to the harsh conditions of the Far North; and Belarus tractors for agricultural producers.“We are focusing on the efforts to expand the supply of Belarusian machinery adapted to Yakutia’s conditions and develop direct rail logistics. We are also specifically considering cooperation in high technology and digital film distribution,” Aisen Nikolayev noted.The parties also agreed to conduct a detailed analysis of the delivery of industrial goods, consumer goods, and foodstuffs as part of the Northern Supply Haul program.
