Russia’s largest solar power plant, with a capacity of 120 MW, has been commissioned in the Trans-Baikal Territory, according to the official Telegram channel of the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District.Over 250,000 Russian-made photovoltaic modules have been installed at the Abagaitui solar power plant. They will generate around 223 million kWh of electricity annually. The plant also uses special systems that track the movement of the sun and help increase power generation by 25 percent compared with modules installed at a fixed angle.This type of energy is well suited to the region, which has some of the highest levels of solar insolation in the country. Solar power already accounts for around 15 percent of the Trans-Baikal power grid’s total capacity.
