The Government has approved the Socioeconomic Development Strategy for the Far Eastern Federal District until 2030, with an outlook to 2036. The corresponding directive has been published on the Government’s official website.The document marks a new stage in the development of the macroregion, building on the solid foundation for accelerated growth established in recent years. Its industrial, resource, and logistics potential has expanded significantly.Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted that the main objective of the new strategy is to continue transforming the Far Eastern Federal District into a competitive and attractive place to live, with a diversified high-tech economy and advanced infrastructure.“Overall, the entire Socioeconomic Development Strategy for the Far East is aimed at creating better conditions for the residents of this macroregion, boosting transport connectivity and infrastructure opportunities, and the living standards in cities and towns. It is also aimed at improving access to quality healthcare, cultural and sport facilities, as well as education and science institutions. It is highly important that young people can see prospects in gaining knowledge that will be essential for their work and employment in their home region so that they wish to build their lives there,” Mikhail Mishustin emphasized.The Prime Minister also said that efforts to create a favorable business environment would continue. In particular, a unified preferential regime for the Far East and the Arctic is currently being developed.The mechanism has already been launched for establishing international priority development territories. It is expected to facilitate joint projects with friendly countries and create new jobs.In addition, the Government will develop a program to attract Russian and foreign specialists – namely, scientists and engineers – to work at research centers and universities in the Far East.Particular emphasis is also being placed on measures to support families. Most regions in the Far East offer a payment of one million rubles upon the birth of a third child, which can be used to repay a mortgage. Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed extending this measure until 2030.The next stage will be the implementation of the updated macroregional development strategy.The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic has been tasked with drafting a detailed action plan for implementing the strategy, due to be submitted to the Government in March 2027.
