About 4,000 people from 21 Russian regions and 14 Chinese provinces took part in the 2nd Russia-China Forum in Khabarovsk. Members of the business communities of both countries held more than 270 meetings across 15 different sectors, according to the press service of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation.“The People’s Republic of China is a strategic partner of our country, and we are committed to further expanding our fruitful cooperation and driving joint economic projects forward, as well as strengthening social and cultural ties,” stressed Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District.The plenary session, Russia and China: Strategic Partnership for the Benefit of the People, was the centerpiece of the business program. Participants discussed prospects for the joint development of Bolshoi Ussuriysky Island, ways to enhance transport links, and opportunities for expanding Russia-China tourism.Dmitry Demeshin, Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, noted that the region is becoming a focal point for cooperation between Russia and China across a range of fields.“We can see that foreign partners are showing genuine interest, and that trade, investment, logistics, and tourism are all becoming more dynamic. Most importantly, agreements are turning into concrete projects that will benefit people, contribute to the development of the territories, and enhance our common friendship,” he added.Ahead of the forum, on the sidelines of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum, the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory and the Roscongress Foundation signed an agreement to hold the Russia-China Forum annually in Khabarovsk. By 2030, the event is expected to become a key platform for cooperation between the two countries.
