The 2026 Eastern Economic Forum that has drawn to a close at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University brought together over 7,000 participants from 78 countries to reaffirm its status of the key platform of the dialogue between Russia and the Asian-Pacific Region. According to Yury Trutnev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative to the Far Eastern Federal District, the largest delegations at the 2026 Eastern Economic Forum were those from China, Indonesia, Japan, Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, India, and Myanmar. He announced this at the final news conference of the forum.“It was attended by 2,400 Russian and foreign business people from more than a thousand companies, 15 heads of the Diplomatic Corps, nine ministers of the Russian Federation, 10 chiefs of federal services and agencies, and 13 heads of Russian constituent entities. The forum program included over 150 business events involving more than a thousand speakers,” Trutnev said.During the four days of the forum, 285 agreements were signed, amounting to a total of 6.66 trillion rubles. One of the major projects is to create a Mohe–Naiba transport corridor linking the Chinese border in the Amur Region with the Arctic coast in Yakutia, as well as to design an investment mechanism for the Arctic’s comprehensive development. Trutnev noted that these initiatives would have a direct effect on the development of that microregion in all areas.A Strategy of the Far Eastern Development until 2036 has been prepared and approved by the forum’s beginning. Currently, the document is awaiting to be signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.As usual, participants in the forum paid much attention to measures to support the economy and improve people's quality of life. Technologies were a cross-cutting theme at the forum: projects, which are to address the main challenges in the region – from complex logistics to energy shortage – were presented at the Innovation Space platform.
